Rev. Septimus Cox Edgehill

Name: Rev. Septimus Cox Edgehill, CF

Birth: Appleby in Westmorland, 1868

Occupation: Chaplain to the Forces

Biography: The Reverend Edgehill was an unlikely man of God - while his father was the priest of the parish, Septimus himself lost most of his faith with the untimely death of his mother, when the boy was just six. While his father ensured young Septimus gained a solid education in preparation for taking holy orders of his own, Septimus yearned for adventure, reading cheap ‘Boy’s Own’ magazines and dreaming of a life as an explorer, discovering lost cities and ancient magick. This was firmly discouraged, and he was sent off to boarding school, followed by divinities college and ordination. Shortly after, Septimus joined the British army as a chaplain. His service took him to India, where he was fascinated by the rites and rituals of the subcontinent, and began to collect books, icons, and trinkets.
In 1901, Septimus took a position at a church in Manchester, preaching largely to uninterested workers. All the while, he maintained his library of esoterica. When the Smog descended Septimus was at study, where he quickly discovered a spiritual awakening within him. Where before, prayers rang hollow, now they contained power. Where a cross had merely been trappings, now it was a powerful talisman. With his parishioners fled and his vicarage beset by unspeakable horrors, Reverend Edgehill once again picked up his service revolver and pledged himself to a new regiment - the K.E.R.
