Iron Billie Ackers
Name: "Iron" Billie Ackers
Birth: 1889
Occupation: Prize Fighter
Biography: Born to a working-class mining family in the West Riding, Ackers spent her youth following her parents between collieries across Yorkshire's mining heartland and running with street gangs. At the age of twelve she was orphaned by the Smog disaster and fled sou toth. Homeless and penniless, the girl was taken under the wing of one 'Big Uncle' Len Perry, a fighter who got his start in the American West, felling mules with single punches and balancing sledgehammers on his nose. She quickly became a solid earner for the Perry Brothers outfit as they travelled between horse fairs, circuses, and inner city pubs, where her prodigious ability to take a punch earned her the name 'Iron' Billie.
In 1912, she accidentally killed an opponent during a bout. The doctor's report found that the man had underlying medical issues, but more concerning, the boy was revealed to be the child of a prominent member of parliament. In an effort to escape the wrath of the boy's father, Ackers signed on with the King's Extraordinary Regiment, lending them her skill in desperate street fights until the heat died down.
